The Ford Mondeo Hatchback TDCi diesel is an impressive vehicle. It is one of the most comfortable models yet. If you ignore the Ford label for a moment, you can compare this car to the likes of the BMW, 3 Series or the Audi A4 when looking at quality from each of the manufacturers. Prices are actually coming down for this model in spite of the fact that it is superior to its predecessors. It comes equipped with a 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine with 130 bhp. When you push the pedal, the engine responds with a quick punch and feels elegant when cruising down the road. Boasting an impressing 48mpg, this car doesn’t seem to have any faults so far.
The comfort of the Ford Mondeo Hatchback is by far one of its greatest assets. It’s large in width and length and there is plenty of room in the back for two. The seats are extremely supportive and legroom in the rear is quite massive. The cabin features a quiet ride, and you only hear the engine noise during takeoff and acceleration. This car is ideal for long-distance travels in comfort and with a boot size of 540 litres; you can fit three or four suitcases in there. This model is perfect for an average-size family. Interestingly enough, the Mondeo does not have a traditional gas cap but on the other hand, it’s virtually impossible to accidentally fill your tank with the wrong fuel. It will only permit the correct nozzle to fit inside the fuel pipe. Ingenious.
As safety features go, this car has it all. It was granted five stars by the Euro NCAP crash tests. It is one of the safest cars you can by on the market today. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) comes standard on every vehicle. There are numerous airbags such as dual front, side, knee and curtain airbags and ABS. As an additional accessory, you can have keyless entry installed. You can put your key in your pocket or purse and when you approach your vehicle, it will sense you and unlock the doors. Then when you get in the car, you push a button on the dash to start the engine. Optional extras include alertness assessor, rear-view camera and LED daytime running lights to name a few. Expect reliability with this car, it will perform strongly.
Diesel engines are a sensible choice for day to day economics. They can be a little more expensive to buy so make sure your driving habits justify the higher price. In terms of safety and reliability, it’s a perfect choice for the average family. Do yourself a favour; put your trust in Ford.
